Karen Proper

Karen has been passionately involved in fitness as an athlete and instructor for many years. Prior to being a Pilates instructor, she taught Spinning, group fitness and TRX. She has pursued a lifetime of fitness challenges including completing Full and Half Ironman races, marathons and multiple cycling events including riding (and occasionally racing) her road, gravel and mountain bikes.

After having her two children she decided to give Pilates a try.  She was so amazed at what Pilates did for her core strength, flexibility and balance that she wanted to share it with others.  The physical and mental benefits she gained from doing Pilates inspired her to earn her 500-hour Balanced Body Certification in 2012 and she has been teaching Pilates in St. Louis for over a decade. Karen recently decided to challenge herself by completing a second certification: Alycea Ungaro’s 600-hour Real Pilates Teacher Training program in New York City, and is proud to count herself as a third generation classical Pilates instructor in the Romana Kryzanowska lineage. Learning the Classical Pilates Method through the Real Pilates System has greatly expanded her depth of knowledge both as an instructor and an athlete.

When she isn’t working, Karen enjoys cycling, running, and spending time with her family.
