Katie was first introduced to Pilates in 2005 while rehabbing a dance injury in New York City. Her curiosity about movement and healing drew her back to the method again and again, and by 2007 she had completed a rigorous 475-hour training program with Angelie Melzer through Team Pilates® (now a Balanced Body® affiliate). Katie’s initial training followed a contemporary approach to Pilates, blending choreographic flow with a rehabilitative mindset rooted in Joseph Pilates’ original work. To deepen her understanding of the Classical lineage, she completed a second comprehensive 600-hour certification through Alycea Ungaro’s Real Pilates® in 2022.
Through years of teaching, continued education, and collaboration with fellow instructors, Katie has developed her own distinct approach—one that honors the classical method while weaving in her contemporary background and love of movement. Her equipment classes are dynamic and evolving, yet always grounded in the principles of classical Pilates. In private or small-group sessions, students experience tailored movement sequences designed to build awareness, reveal imbalances, and strengthen the body toward optimal health. Katie’s lively personality, attention to detail, and deep understanding of anatomy create a learning environment that is both engaging and empowering.
Over the course of her career, Katie has worked with a remarkably wide range of clients—including professional dancers and athletes, children, seniors, musicians, opera singers, and individuals navigating scoliosis, multiple sclerosis, lung disease, cancer recovery, PTSD, and other physical or mental health challenges. Each body presents its own story and potential, and Katie finds joy in helping every student discover strength, confidence, and progress through Pilates.
